Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 13, 2026
Richual is a personal finance app built to help you track your money, set goals, and understand your spending while keeping your data private. This policy explains what information the app handles and how it stays under your control.
1. What Data the App Stores
Richual stores the following information to provide its core functionality:
- Accounts: names, balances, currency, account type, interest settings, credit and liability details, and visual preferences (card colors and patterns).
- Transactions: amounts, dates, categories, notes, associated people, and optionally location data (if you enable it).
- Budgets: monthly spending limits by category.
- Goals: savings targets, progress, milestones, and planned contributions.
- Recurring rules: scheduled transactions including frequency and amounts.
- People: names and optional photos of people you associate with transactions.
- App settings: your preferences for wallet appearance, currency, and feature toggles.
- Net worth snapshots: periodic snapshots of your total net worth for trend tracking.
2. Where Your Data Is Stored
All data is stored in two places that remain under your control:
- On your device: Richual uses Apple's SwiftData framework to persist data locally on your iPhone or iPad.
- In your iCloud account: if iCloud is enabled on your device, your data syncs automatically via Apple CloudKit to your personal iCloud storage. This allows your data to stay in sync across your devices.
We do not operate external servers. Your data is never transmitted to us or stored on infrastructure we control.
3. No External Servers, No Data Collection
Richual has no backend servers, no user accounts, and no login process. There is no way for us to access, read, or retrieve your data.
4. Network Usage
The app makes one type of network request:
- Exchange rates: Richual fetches currency exchange rates from a third party service. The only information sent is your base currency code (e.g., "USD" or "PHP"). No personal or financial data is included in these requests. Rates are cached locally and refreshed approximately once per hour.
iCloud sync traffic is handled entirely by Apple's CloudKit framework and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Like other apps downloaded from the App Store, Apple may independently process information related to downloading, purchasing, diagnostics, or use of Apple services. That information is handled by Apple under its own terms and privacy policy, not by Richual.
5. No Third Party Tracking or Analytics
Richual does not include any third party analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking libraries. Specifically:
- No Firebase, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar services.
- No ad networks or identifiers.
- No data shared with third parties for marketing or profiling.
The app tracks basic internal usage metrics (such as which accounts or categories you use most often) purely for UI convenience, such as sorting your most used items first. This data never leaves your device.
6. Optional Permissions
Richual may request the following permissions, all of which are optional:
- Location: used to attach a location to a transaction. Richual uses single location requests rather than continuous tracking. This is disabled by default; you can enable or disable it in Settings.
- Contacts: used to suggest people when creating transactions. Contact data is used for live search only; full contact records are not stored. Only the name and photo of a selected person are saved.
- Camera & Photos: used to add a photo to a person profile or customize your wallet cover. Images are stored locally in the app's database.
- Notifications: used for reminders about recurring transactions, goal milestones, and other alerts you configure.
- Face ID / Touch ID: used for optional app lock. Biometric data is handled entirely by Apple's LocalAuthentication framework and is never accessible to the app.
7. Purchases
Richual is sold through Apple's App Store as a paid app. We do not process payments directly and do not have access to your payment information. Purchase status is verified locally using Apple's StoreKit 2 framework.
Your Apple ID, payment details, and purchase history are handled by Apple under its own systems and policies.
8. Your Control Over Your Data
You are in full control of your data at all times:
- Delete data: you can delete any account, transaction, goal, budget, or conversation within the app.
- Manage iCloud sync: you can disable iCloud sync for Richual in your device's iCloud settings.
- Revoke permissions: you can revoke location, contacts, camera, photo, and notification access at any time in iOS Settings.
- Delete the app: uninstalling Richual removes all local data. To also remove iCloud data, delete it from iCloud settings.
9. Data Security and Responsibility
Richual relies on security protections provided by your device, iOS, and iCloud. You are responsible for protecting access to your device and Apple ID. Because we cannot access your data, we cannot recover deleted records or restore data that is unavailable from your device or iCloud account.
10. Children's Privacy
Richual is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because Richual does not operate user accounts or external data collection servers, we do not receive information that would allow us to identify a user's age.
11. Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy, the revised version will be posted here with an updated effective date. If there are significant changes, we'll do our best to let you know.
